What is a Naturopathic Doctor?

Naturopathic Doctors (ND) are educated and trained in accredited naturopathic medical colleges. They diagnose, prevent, and treat acute and chronic illnesses to restore and establish optimal health by supporting the person's inherent self-healing process. Rather than just suppressing symptoms, Naturopathic Doctors work to identify underlying causes of illness and develop personalized treatment plans to address them. Their Therapeutic Order™ identifies the natural order in which all therapies should be applied to provide the greatest benefit with the least potential for damage. Source

  • Dr. Threasa Andrys is the owner and founder of Fargo Naturopathic, she has always been drawn to the art and science of medicine. Growing up on a farm in Pillager, MN, she developed an early fascination with medicine, spending countless hours poring over medical textbooks she discovered in used bookstores. This curiosity led her to pursue a Bachelor’s degree in Biology with a pre-med focus from Concordia College in Moorhead, MN, followed by a Doctorate in Naturopathic Medicine from Bastyr University in Kenmore, WA. She completed rotations in dermatology, podiatry, nutrition, anti-aging medicine and medical weight loss during a year-long residency at Pro Sports Club in Bellevue, WA.

Outside of her practice, Dr. Andrys is an active and energetic individual who enjoys a wide range of sports, including golf, tennis, basketball, running, swimming, and biking. She also loves spending time with her family and dog, Odie. Whether it’s cooking from whole food cookbooks, reading (she is a speed reader), exploring hydrotherapy spas, or embarking on outdoor adventures, she is on a mission to make the most out of life! Her favorite travel experience was a family trip exploring all the national parks in Utah, and she looks forward to future journeys to Greece, Italy, and Switzerland.

Dr. Andrys is deeply motivated by the principles of personal growth and leadership, influenced by the works of her role model as young adult that made her read books by Stephan Covey and Zig Ziglar. She believes in the importance of continuous learning and values the feedback that helps her become a better leader, doctor, and person.

Dr. Andrea Hillstad, ND

NATUROPATHIC DOCTOR

  • Dr. Andrea Hillstad, ND, brings a wealth of expertise in rheumatoid arthritis, psoriasis, Parkinson's disease, multiple sclerosis, hormone imbalances, fibromyalgia, chronic fatigue, chronic pain, chronic viral infections (EBV, Lyme's disease, COVID, HSV, etc), mold toxicity, detoxification programs and energy medicine.

  • Originally from Moorhead, MN, Dr. Andrea Hillstad’s journey into Naturopathic Medicine is as unique as it is inspiring.

Driven by her own health challenges with rheumatoid arthritis during college, Dr. Andrea sought out alternatives to conventional medicine, leading her to study Naturopathic Medicine at Sonoran University of Health Sciences in Arizona. This path not only resonated with her personally but sparked a passion for helping others navigate their own health journeys especially those with autoimmune conditions.

Outside the clinic, Dr. Andrea is a blend of creativity and curiosity. She’s an avid knitter, a collector of crystals, and a former instrumental music major with a passion for teaching the arts to children. Her love for music even took her across Europe, where she performed with the MSUM wind ensemble and woodwind quintet, playing flute and piccolo.

At the end of a busy day, you’ll find Andrea at home with her two dogs, unwinding with snuggles and a hot bath. She enjoys spending time with her husband and going to her step-daughters sporting events. And when she’s not busy helping others, she’s dreaming of buying an old house to restore, inspired by Nicole Curtis of Rehab Addict fame.

A true lifelong learner, Dr. Andrea is currently delving into sacred geometry, further enriching her approach to problem-solving, which she combines with thorough research and intuitive insight. She lives by the advice, “Know what you don't know and then go learn it,” a philosophy that continues to guide her in both her professional and personal life.

At Fargo Naturopathic, Dr. Andrea feels a strong sense of camaraderie and belonging—a reflection of the larger purpose that drives her every day. Whether she’s guiding a patient towards better health or learning something new, Dr. Andrea Hillstad, ND, is a healer who brings both heart and mind to the art of medicine.
