InBody Body Composition Scan in Fargo, ND ($65)

Your bathroom scale tells you one number. It can't tell you whether you've lost fat or muscle, whether you're holding extra water, or where your body is storing weight. That's where an InBody scan comes in.

At Fargo Naturopathic, we offer the InBody 580 body composition scan for $65. It's a quick, non-invasive scan done in our Fargo office with Bree Pierce, RN. You do not need to be an existing patient — patients and non-patients are welcome to book. You'll leave with a detailed printout and a clear baseline you can use to track real progress over time. Booking is through JaneApp (no online payment collected here).

What the InBody 580 Measures

The InBody 580 uses bioelectrical impedance analysis (BIA). A small, painless electrical current passes through your body at several frequencies and is used to estimate your body composition. Your results include:

• Body fat mass and percent body fat

• Skeletal muscle mass

• Total body water, including the balance of water inside and outside your cells

• Segmental analysis, showing muscle and fat in each arm, each leg, and your trunk

• Visceral fat level, an estimate of fat stored around your organs

• Basal metabolic rate, an estimate of the calories your body uses at rest

Like all BIA devices, the InBody gives estimates. It's most useful for tracking your own changes over time under consistent conditions.

Who It's For

An InBody scan can be helpful if you:

• Are working on weight loss and want to make sure you're losing fat, not muscle

• Feel like the scale isn't moving even though you're making changes

• Are building strength and want to track muscle gains

• Are in perimenopause or menopause and want to keep an eye on muscle mass

• Have PCOS, thyroid concerns, or other metabolic issues

• Want a baseline as part of a wellness or weight loss & metabolic health plan

• Are simply curious about what's happening beneath the number on the scale

• Are not yet a patient of the clinic but want a standalone body composition scan

How It Fits Our Root-Cause Approach

For many of our patients, the InBody scan is one piece of a bigger picture. Our naturopathic doctors may pair your results with lab testing, nutrition guidance, and a personalized plan, then repeat the scan to see how your body is responding. Body composition often shows progress the scale misses. Gaining muscle while losing fat, for example, can leave your weight unchanged even as your health improves.

You can also book a scan on its own, without becoming a patient first. Learn more about related testing on our lab testing page, or read Why Am I Not Losing Weight? from Dr. Threasa Andrys, ND.

How to Prepare

For the most accurate, comparable results:

• Avoid eating for about 2 hours before your scan

• Avoid exercise, saunas, and showers right before your scan

• Avoid caffeine and alcohol beforehand, and come normally hydrated

• Use the restroom just before your scan

• Remove socks, and metal jewelry or watches if possible

• For repeat scans, try to come at the same time of day under similar conditions

What to Expect at Your Appointment

Bree Pierce, RN will greet you, enter a few details like your height, age, and sex, and have you step barefoot onto the platform and hold the hand electrodes. You'll stand still for about a minute. That's it. No needles, no undressing, and nothing you'll feel. Bree will print your results and walk you through the key numbers. If you're working with one of our naturopathic doctors, they'll use the results in your plan.

Frequently Asked Questions

How much does an InBody scan cost?

$65 per scan at our Fargo office. Booking is through JaneApp; we do not collect payment online on this page.

Do I need to be a patient to get a scan?

No. Patients and non-patients can book an InBody scan with Bree Pierce, RN. Book online or call (701) 314-4008.

Who should not have an InBody scan?

InBody advises against the scan for people with implanted electronic medical devices such as pacemakers or defibrillators. If you're pregnant, ask us before booking. Let us know about any implants when you book.

How often should I repeat my scan?

Many people repeat it every 4–12 weeks while working on a goal, so changes have time to show up. We can help you decide what makes sense.

Is the InBody scan a diagnosis?

No. It's a measurement tool that estimates body composition. It doesn't diagnose any condition, but it can be a helpful part of your overall health picture.
