Fertility & Preconception Support In Fargo, ND
Growing your family is exciting. When it's taking longer than you hoped, it can also feel stressful, lonely, and confusing. Whether you're just starting to plan a pregnancy, have been trying for a while, or are working with a fertility clinic, the months before conception are an important window to support your health.
At Fargo Naturopathic, we offer personalized fertility, pregnancy, and postpartum care. We look at the whole picture (hormones, cycles, thyroid, nutrition, stress, and lifestyle) for both partners, and we work alongside your OB-GYN or fertility specialist rather than replacing them.
Who We See
• Couples planning a pregnancy who want to prepare their bodies
• People with irregular, painful, or very heavy cycles
• Those with PCOS, thyroid conditions, or other hormone concerns
• People who have been trying to conceive without success
• Those going through IUI or IVF who want supportive care
• People who have experienced pregnancy loss and want to prepare for the future
• New parents in the postpartum period (see postpartum anxiety & depression support)
It's generally recommended to see a fertility specialist if you're under 35 and haven't conceived after 12 months of trying, after 6 months if you're 35 or older, or sooner if you have very irregular cycles or a known condition. We're happy to help you get there and support you through that process.
Our Root-Cause Approach
Fertility depends on many systems working together. We look at:
• Cycle health and ovulation. Are you ovulating regularly? Is your luteal phase adequate? See hormone imbalance.
• Thyroid function. Even mild thyroid problems can affect fertility and pregnancy. See thyroid care.
• Blood sugar and metabolic health, which are especially important with PCOS
• Nutrition. Building nutrient stores before pregnancy, including folate. Most guidelines recommend at least 400 mcg of folic acid daily before conception.
• Stress, sleep, and lifestyle. Including environmental exposures, alcohol, and smoking
• Partner health. Sperm health matters too, and many of the same factors apply
Your plan may include nutrition guidance, targeted supplements and prenatal vitamins, herbal medicine, lifestyle support, and hands-on therapies. When medication is appropriate, Dr. Threasa Andrys, ND can prescribe. If you're working with a fertility clinic, we'll check every supplement and herb against your treatment so nothing interferes.
Dr. Threasa Andrys, ND has a long-standing focus on conception and healthy pregnancy, including infertility and postpartum care. Learn more about our providers.
Testing We May Use
Testing is personalized. It may include:
• Hormone labs timed to your cycle, such as estradiol, progesterone, LH, FSH, AMH, prolactin, and testosterone
• Full thyroid panel with antibodies
• Metabolic labs: glucose, insulin, and A1c
• Nutrient markers: vitamin D, iron/ferritin, B12, and folate
• Referrals for semen analysis, ultrasound, or fertility specialist evaluation when appropriate
Labs are ordered through Fullscript. See our lab testing page.
What to Expect at Your First Visit
Your 60–75 minute New Patient Visit covers your cycle and pregnancy history, how long you've been trying, past testing or treatments, health history, nutrition, stress, and your partner's health if relevant. Bring cycle-tracking data and previous labs if you have them. Partners are welcome.
We'll do a physical assessment, decide on testing, and leave you with first steps. Follow-ups review results and adjust your plan through preconception, pregnancy, and postpartum.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can naturopathic care help me get pregnant?
We can't promise a pregnancy, and no one honestly can. What we can do is identify and address factors that may be affecting your fertility and overall health, and help you make informed decisions about next steps, including when to see a specialist.
Can I see you while I'm doing IVF?
Yes. Many people want support with nutrition, stress, and overall health during fertility treatment. We'll coordinate with your fertility clinic and make sure any supplement or herb is appropriate for your protocol.
When should I start preconception care?
Ideally about three months before trying to conceive, but it's never too late to start.
Do you see patients during pregnancy?
Yes. We provide supportive care during pregnancy alongside your OB or midwife, always choosing pregnancy-safe options.
Do you take insurance?
We don't bill insurance directly but can provide paperwork for possible reimbursement. See our FAQs.
